I was there with him, as I'm the coordinator for my county, and walked with him, passed out flyers, etc. John's a great guy and I think a few of the people he met and talked to were bought! wifeNmom	Jul 12, 2007 6:48 AM I would like to offer my advice to those running for election in 2008 who are interested in how to win the conservative vote: marriage of three key issues to unify the party. Immigration, national security, and taxes are the driving issues for conservatives today. Unifying them into one initiative will solidify the conservative block and guarantee the vote to the candidate who promotes it as a package deal. As demonstrated in the 2006 election, conservatives will vote for or against Republicans based on their demonstrated integrity, and their adherence to conservative principals. Arguably, they are not content with the recent voting or spending records of their representatives. However, they will vote for a Republican who does not merely promise change, but who promotes an actual strategy, a viable plan, to affect specific changes in these areas: taxes, immigration enforcement, and border security; so unite the three into one remedy for all. Shutting down the IRS relieves 100, 000 federal employees (Boortz,Linder; p 44), who are already in the federal retirement plan, and frees them up to assist in many areas of immigration and border security. Simply move them, along with their budget, to the border, ICE and INS! Instantly, we have 100, 000 more bodies to carry out the extra work load, and "more than $10 billion a year"--the current IRS budget (Boortz, Linder p. 44) --to apply to immigration enforcement and border security: meaning zero impact on current budget levels! Think about it! 15,000 more bodies to man 2000 miles of fence and technology on both the southern and the northern borders, and 70,000 remain to assist in the locating, capturing, processing, investigating, adjudicating, and deporting of illegals already in the country.
