genuis? What did i do to deserve that title? Hehe. if i'm honest, i haven't actually written anything at the moment, but i did write some ideas down so i might give it a go. If i get anywhere, i'll send it to you. Thanks for asking!

Hiya, I sent you a poem yesterday, a reaction to the floods here in Hull, as a writer its crucial to express ourselves to the world and when we're in the middle of crisis, it's even more important. Have you thought about postings other writers reactions to the floods?
Maybe host an event on myspace?
Gathering works from others?

To raise awareness?

I'd be very willing to assist all I can.

Keep up the great work.

Hope my poem yesterday wasn't misunderstood but to find that 98% of our city is built on flood planes..well, there's questions to be asked.

Thanks for the warning! I was actually going to comment you asking if it was still going ahead. Bloody weather! 'I'm guessing that me saying that i would probably need a boat to get to Zest, would not have been too far from the truth, hehe. Please keep me informed as to when the event will take place, thanks!

Classic song! I may well join you tonight, i'm sure that it would be much fun. I may even bring something to read out if i feel brave enough. Hope you're having a good day - despite the weather. I guess i might see you tonight - though i may well have to hire a rowing boat to get me there at this rate, hehe.

Generation Txt

May 4, 2007 4:18 PM

FOURTEEN SHOWS, SIX POETS, ONE VAN…
… YES, IT’S GENERATION TXT

Following the success of acclaimed new poetry anthology Generation Txt, penned in the margins is taking the six gifted young poets featured in the book on a national tour to fourteen venues. Hand-picked from a nationwide search for writing talent, the poets include former Northern Young Writer of the Year Emma McGordon and celebrated performance poet Inua Ellams, as well as Joe Dunthorne, whose debut novel Submarine has just been snapped up by Hamish Hamilton. Natural Sciences graduate Laura Forman, creative writing student Abigail Oborne and experimental poet and text artist James Wilkes complete the bill.

Hailed by distinguished poet and critic Roddy Lumsden as 'a vital cross-section of the poetry that will progress and flourish' and by the TES as 'a creative ideas manual', the Generation Txt tour will be a must-see event for anyone interested in the future of literature.

Rest In All Love Is
------------------
I love you like this...
dark, i can barely see your eyes...
so dark my eyes are useless. My
heart opens wide its light on you
and your face brightens like the
static on a TV screen, or like the moment
we die and things begin to go all white
and
then
you're an angel laying before me...
the same one that has been there all along,
the one my eyes turned into something else and I
am ashamed I was deceived.
Then,
I see you, I see you like the energy that flows through my limbs,
now, like the breath that takes the universe and
gently creates another, now, like my feet walking
on glass, now, like I was never there.

I love you like I was never there. So gently, never there. In the dark
where I can barely see, and, rest in all that love is.

Writers @ Edit Red

Apr 23, 2007 12:32 PM

'City Smells' is a new literary project set up by the Edit Red Writing Community.

We are running three writing competitions, Flash Fiction, Creative Non-Fiction and Poetry, all with the theme 'City Smells. The winners of each of these competitions will win $100. But more than this, we will take the best work from each competition and compile a paperback 'City Smells' anthology. The writers who make it into the 'City Smells' anthology will each receive free copies of the book and be paid a royalty in book sales.

To submit to these competition and stand a chance of being published in the 'City Smells' book you must be a member of Edit Red, as the submission process is automated. Joining Edit Red and entering these competitions is 100% free. If you make it into the book, we will pay royalties based on book sales.

Edit Red has existed for many years and was created and is still managed today by non-fiction author Alan Emmins, creative writing teacher Chris Lee Ramsden and literary reviewer Sean Merrigan.

If you are not already a member, we hope you will join and take part in this great literary event. Sign up here for free!

Regards
Alan, Sean and Chris

My Friend

I look at you my Friend and I see a child at play
frolicking in muddy streams, splashing rivers into
oceans and carrying each molecule gently
to the sky for another round like a child handing water to his Father
for the first time.

You are neither boastful nor meek.
You are not shy nor are you seeking attention
There is simply abundance and grace with you my Friend
and you ask nothing of me...save I am my self...fully...always... and
you ask without asking...lead without
leading...cause...effortlessly.

My Friend, it is simple with You.
